Silver Sector Update: Pan American Silver (PAAS), Coeur Mining (CDE), Hecla Mining (HL), First Majestic Silver (AG)



Last week, spot silver prices gained in tandem with rise in gold prices. Increasing speculative acting coupled with bargain buying at lower levels acted as a positive factor. Gains in nickel price also supported prices. Although dollar index gained by 0.36 percent, prices traded positive for most of the week.
Spot silver prices in the international markets gained by 5.5 percent and closed at $16.25/oz. On the MCX, silver prices gained by 3.8 percent and closed at Rs.36699/kg.

Pan American Silver Corp. (USA) (NASDAQ:PAAS) is involved in the exploration, acquisition, development, and operation of silver properties. The company also focuses on copper, zinc, lead, and gold minerals. The Company shares are trading +13.87% above their 52 week low price after the last close and -37.03% below the 52 week high. Its latest closing price was down -22.22% from the average-price of 200 days while it kept its distance from the SMA50 at -3.33% and -1.04% compared with the SMA 20.

Shares of Coeur Mining Inc (NYSE:CDE) were +24.93% up 52 week lows as of the latest close and -65.09% below the 52 week high. Its latest closing price was down -43.83% from the average-price of 200 days while it maintained a distance from the SMA 50 at -5.27% and -0.15% compared with the SMA 20. Coeur Mining, Inc., along with its subsidiaries, is engaged in the ownership, operation, exploration, and development of silver and gold mining properties primarily in the United States, Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina, Australia, Ecuador, and Chile.

Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) through with its subsidiaries, discovers, acquires, develops, produces, and markets precious and base metals worldwide. It provides unrefined gold and silver bullion bars to precious metals traders; and lead, zinc, and bulk concentrates to custom smelters.
The stock’s latest price traded at +25.50% up 52 week lows after the closing bell and was -33.05% behind its 52 week high. Its latest closing price was -15.53% below the SMA200 while the distance from the SMA 50 and SMA 20 was +3.46% and +2.72% respectively.

First Majestic Silver Corp (NYSE:AG) acquires, develops, and explores mineral properties with a focus on silver projects in Mxico. The Company so far this year has moved down -58.37% and its monthly performance stands at -11.88%. The stock was up +1.49% from its 52 week low and was -67.23% below the 52 week high. Its latest closing price was down -54.66% from the average-price of 200 days while it kept its distance from the SMA50 at -33.29% and -15.81% compared with the SMA 20.
